SPF, which is short for Sender Policy Framework, is an e-mail safety system, that is used to validate whether an email message was sent by an official server. Using SPF protection for a particular domain name will stop the faking of emails created with the domain. In simple words: activating this feature for a domain generates a specific record in the Domain Name System (DNS) which includes the IP addresses of the servers which are permitted to send emails from mailboxes using the domain. The moment this record propagates worldwide, it will exist on all the DNS servers that route the Internet traffic. Whenever a new e-mail message is sent, the initial DNS server it goes through checks whether it comes from an approved server. In the event it does, it's sent to the destination address, but if it doesn't come from a server indexed in the SPF record for the domain, it's discarded. Thus nobody will be able to mask an e-mail address then make it look as if you're sending spam. This method is also referred to as email spoofing.

SPF Protection in Shared Web Hosting

If you host your domains in a shared web hosting account on our end and we handle the emails for them, you are able to activate SPF protection for all of them with a couple of clicks inside your Hepsia Control Panel. The service is accessible in a section of its own where you're able to see which domain names are already protected. For those that aren't, you can activate the SPF protection service and set up a number of things during the process - the hostnames of the mail servers that are permitted to send messages from your e-mails, the IPv4 and IPv6 addresses of the servers, as well as to create a rule that email messages can be sent only if your domain names use our MX records. The aforementioned option is the most secure one, but you can use it in the event that we take care of the emails for your domains and you're not using a different e-mail service provider. The newly generated records will propagate within one day and nobody will be able to forge the FROM field in an e-mail with your e-mail addresses.

SPF Protection in Semi-dedicated Hosting

The SPF protection feature is available with all Linux semi-dedicated hosting packages, so when you host your domain names in an account on our cloud website hosting platform, you're able to use this particular service effortlessly for any of your domain names. The Hepsia Control Panel, which is provided with the semi-dedicated accounts, has a really user-friendly interface, which means that you don't need to be tech-savvy in order to protected your emails. You'll only need to type the hostname and the IP address of each mail server that you would like to be allowed to send e-mails from your addresses and immediately after that the new record will be activated for the domain name that you've selected. As a further option, we also allow you to limit your outgoing emails and secure your mailboxes even better by allowing e-mail messages to be sent only if the domain in question contains our MX records i.e. the emails for the domain should be taken care of on our end and not by a different supplier. In this way you'll get even better control and there will not be any chances for any person to counterfeit your emails for malicious uses.
